Celebrate with a Farm Birthday Bash

Your child will LOVE a farm-themed birthday! A farm-themed birthday for children is incredibly fun, offering a playful atmosphere filled with joy and excitement. It sparks inspiration through creative decorations and farm activities, encouraging imaginative play. Not only is it fun, but having your child's birthday at our farm introduces an educational element, teaching kids about animals and rural life in an engaging and playful way.

Choosing this farm birthday party for your little one adds a delightful and cheerful touch to their birthday celebration for both parents and children alike, making it a popular choice here at Ancient Roots Hill Country farm. The gender-neutral colors we've chosen for the farm animal birthday party decorations and cupcakes are a perfect pick for both boys and girls. We offer expertly crafted cupcakes with whimsical and adorable farm animal fondant figurines, edible pieces of art that add to the overall visual and taste experience of the cupcakes. All cakes are made by our local cake artisan.

Have you ever had an adorable small and colorful goat rub its head on your leg to get attention, or follow you around everywhere? These affectionate goats just want head scratches, hugs, and attention all day long. Our herd of Pygmy-Nigerian Dwarf goats have playful antics and endearing quirks, that create an atmosphere of joy and lightheartedness wherever they go.

Meet "The Three Amigoats!" Our original three goats who joined our farm as babies in 2021, are as loving and comical as they come. They are always the first to greet anyone who comes through the farm gate. What charming ambassadors they are. Have you seen tree-climbing goats? Our first three nannies climb the native live oak trees up to fifteen feet off the ground! Whenever we see them in the trees we say, "Goats in Oaks!" It's such a delight to witness this odd sight. Since those three nannies have become mamas, they don't scale the trees very often anymore, but if you happen to come when one of their babies is between three to ten weeks old, you'll find them up in the trees! They all seem to have a passion for the same favorite pastime of their mamas. A party with our cast of characters in the goat herd is bound to be a delight.

Summer Camps: Fun and Learning on the Farm

June Four-Day Camp: Mon-Thurs, June 17-20, 2024 | 9:00am-1:00pm
July Four-Day Camp: Mon-Thurs, July 15-18, 2024 | 8:30am-12:30pm

Ancient Roots Hill Country farm is thrilled to offer two camps this summer! Unplug and get “back to your roots” with farming. Each day is themed based on the animals here at the farm and is run by a teacher.

We offer children ages 4-11 two opportunities to join our exciting four-day farm camp! Have your child join us for this educational and fun hands-on experience with animals, nature, and agriculture. Children will learn about farming practices, sustainability, and environmental awareness in an engaging and enjoyable setting.

Children will participate in a real farm/ranch life experience. They will learn about and care for animals, play games, make farm art, participate in STEM activities with simple machines and robotics, and have free exploration. Experts will give interactive demonstrations in these fields: animal husbandry; gardening; weather (and its effects on farming); and robotics, which is becoming more common in farming and agriculture.

Each day begins with Morning Activities:

  • Preparing and feeding the goats, horse, and chickens their feed, grain, and hay.

  • Checking the animals' water stock tanks for cleanliness and refilling with fresh water.

  • Gathering the hens’ eggs and cleaning them.

Camp Activities

We will make farm crafts based on animal husbandry. Some examples are: Building a chick-nic table and swings for the hens and creating a unique goat playground out of tires. The best part is watching the chickens and goats play on them! Farm fresh treats for the animals... We will be making yummy homemade treats for the animals! A wreath of seeds and gelatin for the chickens, a special salad for the goats, and homemade horse treats made with oats, carrots, and molasses. Then we will watch them enjoy their scrumptious treats!

T2 Robotics will provide a lesson discussing how robots help farmers by automating various tasks. They will hear about how robots can perform many helpful tasks: planting, harvesting, monitoring crop health and about robotic milking and feeding systems. The children will then have hands on experience with building a robot and programming it to complete a simple task.

One of the four Summer Camp Days will be focused on learning about yurts and exploring Ancient Roots Hill Country’s very own yurt. Originally called “ger” these dwellings, which originated around 4,000 years ago, belonged to the nomadic people of Mongolia. It is loads of fun to learn about the history of yurts and to experience one in real life. Have your child join us as we tour the yurt and learn about the history of yurts.

The dome often called the "crown" is traditionally passed down for generations in Mongolian families and is a symbol of home and family. It also represents an opening to the world. Enjoy our video of the "crowning" of our yurt at Ancient Roots Hill Country.

What To Bring

  • Please bring a bag lunch and drink for your farm camper and include their name on them. Refills of fresh ice water are available at the farm.

  • Please make sure that your child is wearing closed toe shoes when coming to farm camp. Tennis shoes or boots are advised, but flip flops, crocs or strappy sandals will not be allowed.

  • Children will wash their hands in the bathroom and then eat their lunch at tables set up for them in the air-conditioned guest portion of the main house. The rest of the main house will be partitioned off and not accessible to the campers.

  • Please follow the directional signs when dropping off and picking up your children before and after camp each day.

Ancient Roots Hill Country donates 6% of our Summer Camp's profits to the Save the Children Foundation. Help us achieve this year's goal to donate 2 meals a day for 40 kids (or 60 kids!) in America's poorest communities. These "Rescue Meals" provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches to feed hungry children, improve health, and increase school attendance.
